Here are a few of our top event suggestions for folks visiting the lake District this August Bank Holiday:
Keswick Agricultural Show– Mon 26th August
Enjoy a full day of family entertainment; including show ponies, horses, sheepdogs, wrestling display, fell race, sheep clipping, and terrier racing.
Race The Tide– Sat 24th August
Runners of any ability are challenged to race the tide. This exciting race “follows a 10k wild, natural route where you will be pushed to your limits to complete obstacles, crawl through mud, wade and swim through rivers and scramble to the top of wooded hillsides.”
The race starts and finishes at Muncaster Castle, who are also providing a celebratory hog roast and ceilidh to top off a fun day of racing.
Grasmere Bank Holiday, BBQ and Swim– Fri 23rd August
Everyone is welcome, at Alpkit’s BBQ and swim on the shores of Grasmere. The day includes a BBQ on the beach, and plenty of swimming in Grasmere lake!
Holker Hall Plant Fair and food market – Sun 25th Aug

Dave Johns at Theatre by the Lake– Sun 25th Aug
This Bank Holiday weekend, award-winning stand-up comedian Dave Johns presents his brand-new stand-up show, ‘From Byker to the Baftas’. Best known for his critically acclaimed breakthrough performance in Ken Loach’s 2016 film ‘I Daniel Blake’, the comedian-come-film-star will be putting in a much sought-after appearance at Theatre by the Lake… so grab your tickets soon!
Guided walks by the Lake District National Park– 23/24/25/26 August
There are always lots of events and activities happening in the National Park. This Bank Holiday Weekend, celebrate local wildlife and scenery with some fabulous family days out and high-fell hikes.

Creating Joy is a weekend of creativity, community and joy. “It’s some seriously high-vibing stuff”
